Light + Color

Light + Color

The building I chose from the power point is Sainte-Chapelle. It was founded by King Louis IX of France, who constructed it as a chapel for the royal palace and to house precious relics. I found the interior of this sacred structure to be one of the most accurate representations of light and color in harmony. This structure contains 6,458 square feet of bright, polychromatic stained glass windows which also illustrate 1,1300 figures from the bible.  The glass allows natural light from the outside to shine within the space but is also illuminated by artificial light. Overall the light enhances the color of the glass and creates a very unified and aesthetically pleasing space, giving it the feel of a sacred place as well.
